The unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short may forever remain that, unsolved, but, to many the killer is already known, the problem is who is right about which one? Join us this week as we discuss (and sometimes argue) about who could have committed this heinous crime.

Ed Burns, Hayley questions whether or not he had the medical know how, BUT, I had forgotten during the recording that he had some medical student credits!

George Hodel?

Steve Hodel certainly thinks he did it. Check out his books

Re: Al Morrison, aka Arnold Smith aka Jack Anderson Wilson

You’re right. George Hodel did not murder Beth. Don’t waste your time with Steve. He has issues that drive his so-called evidence, not the evidence driving a theory. She wasn’t posed artfully as Steve says and that criss cross pattern is not George’s art signature. That was to torture Beth while she was alive.

The tattoo and pubic hair were kept. They were souvenirs to relive the act. They were not flushed down any toilet.

You’re wrong. No medical knowledge is needed. A knife would find the easiest route. The medical link is a red herring in this case. Trust me.

Orson is a laugh. He had such a big ego he’d not put his “art” on a suburban street. Trust me on that. The guy had a temper but he craved the good things in life and this is not his M.O.

Burns wanted attention after death. Name link is just a game for him. He didn’t kill her.

Check into the possibility of Short being a hermaphrodite. That was talked about decades ago but I’m not sure if ever corroborated. That could enrage a man already mentally unhinged.

My background which backs my opinions: My father was a constable in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police so I grew up with investigative knowledge and have been a researcher on the Manson Family murders since 1978 with a blog on same since ’08 – 2nd Official Tate-LaBianca murders.

Keep digging. This case is solvable.

    Cordially,

Barbara thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I have faith that someday this murder will be solved! I did look into the hermaphrodite angle, its not anywhere in the police or FBI files and its not on the autopsy, I would like to think that in a professional setting it would have had to at least been on the coroners report had it been true. I feel like maybe that was a way to claim that Betty wasn’t fast and loose, and by saying that or using that rumor it would put the attacks on her character to rest, as see, she couldn’t have been sleeping around, she physically couldn’t, but, I could be wrong about that and so many things! Thanks so much for listening and taking the time to write! It means so much when you spend as much time on this as I did.
      Sincerely,
      Cat

To dismiss the possible medical connection to the case, while spreading the absurdity that Short could have been a hermaphrodite… Really?!? Come on, Barbara. I’m sure the mounted police would not agree with your investigative method of deduction!
I thought the autopsy revealed the killer had shoved the tattooed flesh up into her privates… sorry, I hate going into the details as much as you do… yuck. Very responsible for you to have given the oft repeated warning about those pictures. You do indeed need to turn something off in order to view them.

  • James

I totally understand your defensiveness towards the Orson Welles theory. One of my top 5 human beings to have ever walked the earth… A fun theory to discuss, but total b.s.

  • James

The same defensiveness as I felt over the theory that John Huston helped his childhood best friend George Hodel in the murder!!! As you say, so many people could be suspects.

  • James

Red Manley could’ve had PTSD from the war, and that could’ve added to the his guilt/shame over the murder, and resulted in his inability to move past it all. The war damaged so many men… Watch John Huston’s heartbreaking documentary “Let There Be Light”.
Amazing, save for one or two false, staged notes…

  • James

Elizabeth Short’s fascination/obsession with the Suzanne Degnan murder is one of the weirdest, creepiest of coincidences in a case with so many; and another of the facts not mentioned enough.

The cop that said they knew who it was, said it was a doctor who lived on Franklin avenue but they didn’t have enough to press charges. Sowden house was on Franklin. The more I read about him, the more I think he’s capable.

  • James

Just did some research on the Ed Burns angle and it’s COMPLETE AND TOTAL RUBBISH… There’s no evidence he wrote that “suicide note” or any of the others. It’s all done through decoding of something that’s not there, unless you want it to be… l
